About the grant
Transformative Health Instrument Call 2025 is a funding programme from EIT Health aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are profit-driven according to the EU SME definition. The programme supports innovative solutions in biotechnology, medical technology, digital health and biomarker/diagnostics that are adaptable and patient-focused to make healthcare more personalised, sustainable and efficient. The funding model is "Grant to Options to Equity", where support is given as grants with the possibility of conversion to shares at a later stage. Projects can receive between 400,000 and 500,000 euros in grants with a co-financing rate of at least 30%. The project must start after selection and be completed by 31 December 2025 at the latest. Applications are open to companies across Europe including the UK, with certain conditions applying to Switzerland and Hungary. The project must have an innovation maturity level (IML) according to sector-specific requirements and the company must have completed a qualified investment round of at least 4 million euros during 2023 or 2024 with at least one new professional investor.
Requirements
- The company must be a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) according to the EU definition.
- The company must be profit-driven and privately owned, without stock market listing or public shares.
- The company must have completed a qualified investment round during 2023 or 2024 of at least 4 million euros with at least one new professional investor.
- The project must have an innovation maturity level (IML) according to sector-specific requirements: Biotech ≥5, Medtech ≥6, Digital ≥7, Biomarker/diagnostics ≥7.
- Collaboration with other EIT Health members is not mandatory, but the project is single-beneficiary (only one company).
- Co-financing of at least 30% is required of the project's total budget.
- The project must be completed by 31 December 2025 at the latest.
- The company must not have double funding for the same project activities from other EU grants.
- The company must be able to undergo due diligence and approve the "Grant to Options to Equity" agreement.
