About the grant
The call Designed living environment was developed in collaboration between the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, ArkDes, Formas, the Swedish National Heritage Board, the National Public Art Council and Formas. The purpose was to increase knowledge about the role of public art in connection with the design and management of designed living environments. The call was limited to the design of public spaces and the importance of art for the development of a more social and sustainable society. At the end of September 2020, 38.5 million SEK was awarded to ten four-year projects representing academia, municipalities, authorities, regions, civil society and industry. The research should highlight artistic perspectives and public art in relation to architecture, form, design and cultural environment in sustainable designed living environments. Formas is responsible for the implementation of the call within the National Programme for Sustainable Community Building.
