About the grant

Green loan is a loan from Almi that helps small and medium-sized enterprises finance initiatives that contribute to green transition and environmental benefits. This can include investments in energy efficiency, solar panels, circular solutions or other technology that reduces climate impact. The loan is designed to give companies the right conditions to develop sustainably and contributes to innovation, new jobs and a more viable Swedish business sector. The loan can be used for sustainable investments that meet the EU's environmental objectives according to the taxonomy, such as installation of solar panels, energy efficiency, replacement with energy-efficient machines or installation of charging stations for electric vehicles. The loan amount can be up to 20 million SEK and requires co-financing from e.g. bank or owner. Almi normally finances 30 to 50 percent of the capital need, with possibility for lower or higher share depending on risk and repayment ability. Thanks to a guarantee from the European Investment Fund, more favourable terms are offered such as longer term, initial repayment-free period and lower interest. The loan is financed with support from the European Union under the InvestEU fund.

Requirements

• The company must be registered in Sweden and have up to 250 employees.
• The initiative must meet at least one of the EU's sustainability criteria linked to the taxonomy for environmentally sustainable investments.
• Co-financing is required from bank, owner or other external financier.
