Ocean colour remote sensing in optically complex waters - moving from the ENVISAT to the Copernicus programme Short

Research programme for validation and algorithm development of satellite data from Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 for monitoring water quality in coastal and inland waters.

Amount

3,188 kSEK total for 2018-2020

Funding rate

Varies — depends on the scope of the project and the grant provider's assessment.

Deadline

No fixed deadline specified — applications are usually accepted continuously. Check current dates with the grant provider.

About the grant

The proposed research programme consists of two subprojects: I) validation and algorithm development for Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3, including development of regional turbidity, chlorophyll and Secchi depth algorithms through remote sensing and bio-optical methods. II) Improvement of monitoring methods and coastal management through better estimation of nutrients from land to sea. The programme builds on ESA's ENVISAT programme and uses data from the Copernicus programme to measure water components from space and monitor water quality and environmental changes in the sea over time.

The grant provider does not list any fixed requirements in advance for this support. In practice, an individual assessment of your application is made — who you are, what the project is about and how well it fits the purpose of the grant.
