About the grant
The government has commissioned the National Board of Health and Welfare to allocate state grants to municipalities to counter homelessness through efforts according to the Housing First method. The purpose is to strengthen municipalities' work against homelessness by preparing, starting, expanding or improving activities according to the Housing First method during the strategy period 2022-2026. The grant is aimed at municipalities so that more people in homelessness or at risk of homelessness can access safe, dignified and long-term housing and support to manage underlying problems. The grant prioritises people with co-morbidity such as harmful use, addiction and psychiatric diagnoses. The National Board of Health and Welfare allocates 123,500,000 SEK for 2026. Funds not used according to conditions must be repaid.
