About the grant
The Foundation supports projects of high scientific potential primarily in the humanities. The projects should be focused on a coherent scientific research question. Grants can be applied for by individual researchers or research groups affiliated with the country's universities, colleges, scientific academies and similar research and educational institutions. Applications from individuals without a permanent affiliation to a scientific institution are not considered. The projects should have an independent objective and not merely constitute supplementary funding for ongoing activities or other initiated projects. Projects can be applied for by an individual researcher or groups of 2-4 researchers with complementary competencies. The main applicant must have at least 70% of their working time in Sweden, co-applicants at least 50%. Normal projects have a budget between 3 and 9 million SEK with a duration of 3-5 years. Up to 20% of the granted amount may be used for indirect costs and rent. A researcher can participate in a maximum of two ongoing projects, of which one as main applicant. Projects can be considered at a maximum of two application rounds. Grants for equipment are normally only awarded as part of a project and are depreciated linearly over the equipment's lifespan. Applications are submitted electronically with mandatory attachments and completeness requirements. Decisions are communicated by email and granted funds are published. Research must be published open access according to the respective university's rules.
