About the grant
The Gålö Foundation awards needs-tested study scholarships to talented young people registered in Greater Stockholm (Stockholm County except Norrtälje, Nykvarn, Nynäshamn and Södertälje municipalities). Scholarships can be applied for by students from grade 6 and are granted for studies from grade 7 in compulsory school to upper secondary school graduation, but no later than the academic year in which the applicant turns 24. From the application year 2025, no scholarships are granted for university or college studies. The scholarships are needs-tested with an income limit of SEK 650,000 for parents' taxable earned income. Scholarship amounts are SEK 7,000 – 11,000 per academic year depending on study level. Scholarships can be applied for studies in Sweden or abroad, including theoretical and practical studies. Applications are made digitally during 1 November – 31 January at 16:00. Attachments such as personal certificate, grades and parents' tax information must be attached digitally.
Requirements
- Applicants must be registered in Greater Stockholm (Stockholm County except Norrtälje, Nykvarn, Nynäshamn and Södertälje municipalities).
- Studies must be full-time from grade 7 to upper secondary school graduation, but no later than the academic year when the applicant turns 24.
- Studies on a national programme for upper secondary level.
- Needs assessment based on applicant's and parents' finances, income limit SEK 650,000 taxable earned income.
- From 2025, no scholarships are granted for university or college studies.
- Applications must be made digitally with attached documents (personal certificate, grades, tax information).
- Studies must start the coming academic year.
